Saturday January 21st

Through this experience with Papa we have been touched by the goodness of our friends and family.  So many people offering prayers, even people who don't know Papa personally.  Friends and family helping with Grandma and Steven, people cooking food , helping to pay for expenses,  physicians and nurses taking a personal interest in Papa's case and offering their professional advice  (KAREN!).    The smallest gestures of help have touched our hearts and it has been an enlightening experience.  We have come across a beautiful poem entitled , "The Brave Little Soul", by John Alessi.  It tries to explain why God allows suffering to take place .  We have an excerpt from it that really hit home for us.  We have witnessed , through this experience with Papa and his suffering that many of these things here hold true.

"through suffering and God's strength,  goodness and and love were unlocked in people's hearts.  For so many people dropped their differences and came together to show their love. Priorities became properly aligned .  People gave from their hearts.  Those that were too busy found time.' Many began new spiritual journeys, some regained lost faith-many came back to God. Families hugged each other tighter. Friends and family grew closer. Old friends got together and new friedships were made. Distant family reunited and every family spent more time together. Everyone prayed. Peace and love reigned. Lives changed forever. It was good. The world was a better place.
